Astratta Miami

Our award-winning Astratta Miami wallcovering collection has been making waves since its debut. Here's a more in depth look at the designer and techniques used behind the Miami-inspired collection

Astek was fortunate to work with designer Elisa Passino on this collaboration! Born and raised in Italy, she went on to pursue her studies in Fashion & Textile Design at NABA Milan before working professionally as a graphic and textile designer. Passino founded her own studio in 2019 and launched her first independent collection, Geometrie Componibili, inspired by Portuguese Azulejos. In 2020, this collection was granted a Best of Year award in Tile+Stone by Interior Design magazine (serendipitously the same year Astek was recognized as an Honoree in the Contract Wallcovering category).

Elisa continues to collaborate with various brands to create products using her signature clean, contemporary style. Her work has been featured in a number of home magazines, including Elle and House & Garden. Together with Astek, Elisa focused her unique eye for product design towards wallcoverings to create our stunning Astratta Miami collection.

We wanted to bring a textural element to this collection reminiscent of Passino's tile work. Risograph printing is a similar process to that of screen printing. Most notable about this type of printing is its vivid colors and unique textures that cannot be replicated with normal printers. This is an affordable, high speed method for large quantities and creates desirable "imperfections" in the prints. This is done by first transferring the ink to the printer drum and then to the page.

We merged this printing process with Elisa's digital designs to add this unique detailing to her striking, geometric patterns. Enhancing the cheery, pastel colors of her designs, the textures added another layer of detail. And so, our Astratta Miami collection was born!

The Astratta Miami collection is printed to order on our Smooth Topeka substrate. We love this material as it's one of our eco-friendly, Type II substrates that's both PVC-free and made from 31% post-consumer content. However, with our vast substrate library and production done entirely in-house, you can customize the material to suit your project. We can also customize the color and scale, allowing for total control over the appearance of your wallcovering. Our designers work with you on every step to ensure all the details are perfect and your creative vision is taken to the next level.
