Pacifica Hotels, known for its boutique lifestyle accommodations, acquired the historic Ritz Milner Hotel in 2019. This property was nearly a century old before being renovated into what is now known as the Wayfarer DTLA.

This brand concept combines the look and feel of traditional hotel rooms with a modern, dorm-style twist that keeps the needs of today’s traveler in mind. Done in collaboration with Pacifica’s in-house design team, this updated space places emphasis on the urban culture of Downtown Los Angeles. Through the hotel’s intentional design elements, a raw, imperfect approach elevates the guest experience, encouraging discovery and curiosity for the city’s vibrant community.

Prioritizing the social and communal needs of the present-day traveler, each of the 135 private guestrooms is equipped with wifi and standing workspaces. Artistic touches, including exposed brick walls and beam ceilings, highlight the central downtown location. Astek printed a custom cloud-like wallcovering for the guestrooms, adding a touch of whimsy to this urban space. This custom wallcovering also creates a sense of being “in the clouds,” similar to that of Los Angeles skyscrapers, tying into the skyline views guests have during their stay. Carefully curated, this property celebrates a city of many experiences, faces, and stories.
